Vision and Background

The unique character of the Stella K. Abraham Beit Midrash Program for Women is the synthesis of intense and demanding limmud Torah with the objective of developing a spiritual community of Avodat Hashem. The program is built upon a conviction that the world of Torah and limmud serves as the primary focal point from which each student can blossom and deepen her connection to Hashem. In addition to intellectual endeavors, the program provides opportunities for students to face challenges in the spiritual realm, striving for constant effort and growth in Yirat Shamayim and commitment to Halacha.

The Stella K. Abraham Beit Midrash for Women was established in 1997 by Yeshivat Har Etzion under the leadership of the roshei yeshiva Rav Yehuda Amital and Rav Aharon Lichtenstein. Together with their colleagues Rav Baruch Gigi, Rav Yaakov Medan and Rav Mosheh Lichtenstein they render guidance and educational expertise on an ongoing basis.

Yeshivat Har Etzion has earned a reputation over the past forty years as a leading Torah institution in Israel and the world. Along with the study of Gemara and Halacha, the Yeshiva spearheaded the in-depth study of Tanach within the community and teacher training at its Herzog College. The Stella K. Abraham Beit Midrash for Women allows young women to benefit from Yeshivat Har Etzion's and Herzog College's seasoned educators and unparalleled faculty. The Stella K. Abraham Beit Midrash for Women is lead by the dynamic educator and scholar Mrs. Esti Rosenberg. The keen involvement of Torah scholars of the caliber of Rabbis Amital and Lichtenstein, together with the outstanding faculty, sends the message, quite clearly, that we believe strongly in teaching women, taking women seriously as sophisticated students of Torah, and providing opportunities for women to develop as spiritual personalities.
