Advanced Program (Year 2 and beyond):

This program is intended for women who have completed their Sherut Leumi or IDF (National or Army Service) and who have already studied for at least one year in a Beit Midrash.  The One-Year Program establishes the foundation for study in the Advanced Program.

We believe it is not only possible, but necessary, to develop female Torah leaders and educators who will be capable of assuming key positions in Torah education and community leadership in Israeli society:  teachers and administrators in Batei Midrash, teachers and administrators in high schools, integration in public schools and other educational endeavors, involvement in Jewish jurisprudence, and so on.

The women who come here are highly motivated and have a profound commitment to the need for synthesis between the worlds of Torah and general knowledge, to develop as individuals and to prepare themselves to become active members of society.

In the course of the Program, each student sharpens her focus, choosing two majors from the four main areas of study:  Tanach, Talmud, Jewish Thought, and Halacha.  There is a gradual movement away from frontal lectures, with greater concentration on preparation time and study in the Beit Midrash, where the women invest 4-5 hours in preparation for each class.  Classes are smaller (8-10 women per class), and more interactive.  The Beit Midrash serves, simultaneously, as an academic and religious home.  It serves as the ideal environment for intellectual challenge and personal-spiritual development.  Spending so much productive and intensive time in the Beit Midrash during these formative years greatly enhances the students' maturation and preparation for taking their place in society.

The Advanced Program is designed for a minimum of one year of study (Second Year) and continues for an additional year or two (Third Year and Fourth Year). It is important to note that beyond the second year, the students proceed in their studies leading to academic degrees at other institutions (Open University, Bar Ilan University, Hebrew University) in a variety of disciplines, on an individual basis.

Requirements

Applicants to the program must have completed their Sherut Leumi (National Service) and at least one year of study in a Beit Midrash program (with preference given to graduates of our program).  The women we seek are those who understand and value the world of the Beit Midrash as the optimal atmosphere in which to study. Only those who have already proven their diligence and attentiveness, along with social and personal involvement in the activities in the Beit Midrash, are accepted.  Preference is given to those who plan to play a role in the field of education, in some form.  Applicants must be willing to make a commitment of a minimum of three days per week of study and participation in the various educational programs of the Beit Midrash, including shabbatot, chagim, etc.
